Blogtober Day 22- Get Your Blog Started Today!

3 Simple Steps To Help You Start A Blog Today

NOT SPONSORED

I have been blogging on and off now since 2016. I have had a few different blogs and with each blogging space I have grown, changed, and become a better writer for those experiences. Writing is something I genuinely love to do, and with each space I am able to hone in a little more on what I want to share and focus on.

Coming up on my 3 month “monthiversary” (Oct 24th) with The Blessed Homemaker UK, I wanted to write a post that would tell you how You can start your very own blog.

Now, I am no whiz at growing a blog… I’m definitely still testing the waters on that front. But anything worth having takes some time and patience, right? That being said, in this post you will find easy to follow guidelines on how to navigate the beginning steps of setting up your very own WordPress powered website/blog!

The only thing that never changes in life is … the fact that everything always changes.

It doesn’t matter if you take the plunge now or in a years time. The time is still going to pass. Would you rather say, “I wish I would have…” OR “I’m so happy I did…” The choice is yours. Everyone has the same 24 hours. No more, no less. What are you doing with your 24 hours?

If you’ve got 20 minutes, you can set up your own creative website space.

The first step in setting up your blogging website is to choose a name.

Something catchy, easy to remember and not too long is what you’re going for. Maybe use a thesaurus or a good name generator to look up similar alternatives to more common phrases. What are you mainly going to be talking about? Faith, Coffee, Homemaking, Cooking, etc. If you’re not entirely sure, or you know you want to talk about many topics, then keep it somewhat vague.

I went with The Blessed Homemaker because I knew I wanted my faith portrayed in the title and my role in life from this point forward is that of a homemaker. I’m a wife, a mama, a home-chef, a house cleaner, an errand runner and grocery shopper. I’m a care giver, teacher, diaper changer, work-lunch packer, and so much more. I find joy in keeping our home running, our bellies full, and my family happy. I knew that my topics of discussion would center around these things. For a more in-depth discussion about the choosing of my Blog Name and a few other topics, look here.

Once you have chosen your name, maybe even a few alternatives that you’d be happy with, go to GoDaddy to make sure it’s available. I have gone with GoDaddy because they are extremely affordable and have great WordPress Website plans, one-click installs and the latest version so you always have the most recent features available. With GoDaddy, your WordPress Website content is managed from one place and there are a ton of themes and add-ons that give you limitless options to succeed at creating your vision.

If you are thinking of transferring your domain, website, or web hosting to GoDaddy, you won’t be disappointed. They have an award-winning support team which is always high on the list of why people move their presence to GoDaddy. Again I say, the prices are great and often include a one year extension on many domain transfers.

Once you have checked the name with GoDaddy, the next step is to check it across the social medias. I currently have an Instagram and a Pinterest page. I don’t really do much of anything with Twitter or Facebook as I have heard horror stories about the safety (or lack thereof) on those sites.

*I just tried to start a Facebook Page soley for my blog business, but it’s currently locked me out, calling me a robot after less than 5 minutes of creating the account and I had to upload a picture of my photo ID so IDK about THAT!*

Anyways, once you’ve checked the name across socials and you’re sure this NAME is your home, purchase your domain+hosting and create your socials. I like to snatch up the google GMAIL as well.

Now, it doesn’t all have to match exactly, but that would make it easier for people to find you across all platforms.

That’s basically it. There are 3 main steps to setting up a blogging space to have your own little corner of the internet.

  1. Choose your blog business NAME
  2. Check the name across GoDaddy, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, etc.
  3. Purchase your Domain+Hosting & Set up all Social Media accounts.

Sign up for the GoDaddy plan that best suits you and begin creating your lovely content. It really is this simple. Especially if you go with an “all in one” package. You can find the prices for your new WordPress Website here.

Now you are ready to start writing to your hearts content. I encourage you to create uplifting and inspiring posts. Good Luck to you, I’m sure you will see growth in no time.

Till next time

Lots of Love,

Vicki
