You can only choose one. Choose wisely.
If you read the fine print then you must realize you’re gonna need that Parachute.
I shared this over on my Instagram today and I want to elaborate a little bit on the topic here. This question and scenario is mentioned close to the very beginning of my Bible. Today, I want to share with you some of what is in this section and some of my thoughts on the subject.
First off, read the Fine Print if you haven’t yet. It could save your life.
You are getting ready to jump from an airplane 10,000 feet in the air. If this little fact doesn’t make your decision pretty darn clear then you’re nuts if you think you’ll survive the meeting between you and gravity once you jump out of that plane without a parachute.
There is a certain type of fear that you should feel at the idea of jumping without a parachute. The type of fear that could save your life. The type of fear that will have you begging for that parachute before you fall to your death.
Okay, this next part is pretty much taken straight from The Evidence Bible page xxv.

Now think about the four major religions:
Hinduism. Buddhism. Islam. Christianity.
Which one should you choose? Before you decide, here’s some information that will help you determine which one is the wisest choice:
All of humanity stands on the edge of eternity. We are all going to die. We will all have to pass through the door of death. It could happen to us in twenty years, or in six months,… or today. For most of humanity, death is a huge and terrifying plummet into the unknown. So what should we do?
* * *
This section in the Evidence Bible then goes on to talk about that fear that helped you make the right decision when choosing the parachute. You know what the law of gravity will do to you. In that same way, let’s take a look at another law, and hopefully your knowledge of what it can do to you will help you make the right choice about life’s greatest issue. Let the fear work for you, let it save your life.
After we die we have to face the “law of sin and death.” That law is also known as “The Ten Commandments.”
We will be judged according to this law. No one will be hidden from it.
Have you loved God above all else?
Is He the first love in your life?
He should be, He’s given you everything you hold dear.
- Do you love Him with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength? That’s the requirement of the First Commandment.
- Have you broken the Second Commandment by making another “god” more important?
- Making a “god” in your mind that you’re comfortable with is the same as a false god. Like when you say “My god is a loving and merciful god who would never send anyone to hell.” Yep, that god doesn’t exist!
- Your own image of god, that is not what God truly is, is a false god.
- It’s called idolatry and idolaters will not enter heaven.
- Have you ever cursed out of frustration or disgust? That’s called “blasphemy,” and it’s very serious in God’s sight. Breaks the Third Commandment.
- Have you always honored your parents in every situation?
- Kept the Sabbath holy?
- Have you ever felt hatred towards someone?
- Lusted after someone?
- Had sex outside of marriage?
- Ever lied? (anything untrue is a lie!)
- Ever stolen anything?
- Ever wanted something that someone else had? (jealousy)
If you have ever done any of these things then you are done for. Breaking even ONE of the Ten Commandments (God’s Law) will keep you from entering Heaven and secure your eternity in hell.
Your knowledge of God’s Law should help you see that you have a huge life-threatening dilemma to worry about. God’s wrath should be of great concern to you. His justifiable anger against your personal sins is something that no amount of good works can save you from.
I could go into more detail about the other religions, but I’m more interested in you knowing Why Christianity. So, here’s a roundup of the “gist” of the more popular religions
In Christianity, God Himself provided us a “parachute”. His Word says “Put on the Lord Jesus Christ.”
Just as the parachute would solve your issues with jumping and the law of gravity, so can Christ solve your problems with the Law of God and God’s wrath.
How did God solve your dilemma?
He became a human being and took our punishment upon Himself. Jesus was not just another prophet as some religions wish you to believe. He was not simply one among many. The Scripture tells us that God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself.
Our salvation is a GIFT. Not something to be earned!
For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
Ephesians 2: 8-9
So this boots out the idea that any good works can get you to Heaven. By grace we are saved. BY GRACE. God’s Gift! The Savior is God’s gift to you. Only Jesus can save you from death and hell, something that you can never earn or deserve. So accept it. Appreciate it. Be in awe of it. Be humbled by it. Admit you are a sinner and are willing to turn from that sin. Believe in Christ Jesus. And Confess your faith to those you come in contact with. Let them SEE Jesus in you.
Admit. Believe. Confess. The ABC’s of becoming a Christian.
Till next time,
